Scrapbooking Tip #12: Layouts with Multiple Photos

I am addicted to making layouts with a single photo. I just love taking a 5x7 and building a page around it but it becomes a problem when I get an order from Snapfish with 150 photos. So sometimes I actually have to do layouts with multiple photos.

The way I do multiple photo pages is to treat the multiple photos as one big photo. By placing them close together, they don't get lost and look like they're floating around the page. If the photos are spaced apart, then it is important to ground each photo to make them look meatier. I use multiple mats beneath a photo.

Lastly, don't be afraid to trim a photo. This is easy if the background is busy or distracting. I trimmed photos in most of the layouts featured in this update (except the GIRLY one in which case I layered them so they didn't take up too much room)

Remember SUNDAY!!! Contest winner will be announced. If you haven't left a comment yet, please go down to the Contest announcement post and leave a comment!

For Debbie:

As a friend who lives close by, Debbie suffered the "you're my pal so you have to wait until I finish all my mail orders" excuse. So I have finally finished her 10 pages.... now to plan a get-together so I can deliver them. I hope she likes them. I know she has an awesome scrap closet in her new finished basement that rivals mine so I made sure to leave a little space on a few of them in case she wanted to add to them.

Francesca

Please check back here February 1st when I will be announcing the winner of my giveaway. If you haven't entered yet, please see the posting below this one for all the details. The response so far has been fantastic... thanks so much to everyone who has left a comment or published on their blogs.

Meanwhile, here is another custom name album for a special little girly-girl. For some reason, people just ask me for girly stuff knowing that I must have an entire truckload of girly scrap stuff (wonder why?). Don't worry, all you moms of boys, I keep a steady supply of boy stuff on hand as well so you won't feel left out.

Up next.... Debbie's 10 page spectacular!!!

Sisters

I don't have a sister.... I have 3 brothers. So I have never grown up with that built-in "best friend" so I don't really understand the bond of sisters but I see it unfold for me every day with my girls. Whether they care to admit it, they are each other's best friend (and worst enemy... sometimes at the same time). I was asked to make a SISTERS album for someone who was about to deliver her second girl (she has 2 boys and a girl) and I just thought the idea was so perfect that I ordered one for myself too (which I may have to relinquish since someone else has asked about a SISTERS album as well). Below are a few images of the finished album.

New Year and New Looks

Coming up for air!!! I had some time between finishing up some orders and starting new ones so I thought I'd try to catch up on work for my own collection and finally put a dent in my bag of photos that I have to scrap (did I ever mention that I keep them in a Tiffany's bag?.... so funny. I've never shopped in Tiffany's but I have a bag from there. I think it was a bridesmaid gift that came in it). All of these layouts are keeping with my resolution to use my supplies and stop hoarding them for a rainy day. The box of alphabets I used for EXPLORE have been sitting in my scrap room for over a year!!!

First up are two nature inspired layouts using photos I took of the gardens at Vanderbilt Mansion. I thought "Secret Garden" was perfect because in looking at these photos I realized what this place must be like for children. With all the nooks and hidden little places it must really be a magical place. We used to live in Hyde Park where Vanderbilt was only a few minutes from our house. Now that we're across the river we still try to get there a few times a year.

This next layout was fun.... I used some new papers I just bought and added some cute photos of Brynne (from Catrina's last birthday if you can believe it! I am behind on my pages!!) It brightened her spirits since she's been sick for a few days.

Sneak Peek!

I have had a busy week!!! Here's another update for a special order I have just completed. Unfortunately, I have 2 under the weather cuties on my hands so this is only 9 of the layouts I have made. My mail carrier is going to be busy tomorrow picking up the packages going out to some happy clients!

These pages were made for a returning client. I was honored to do her son's wall letters as well as name albums for his grandparents more recently. His mommy keeps me busy and he's not even a year old yet!

Now that I'm getting caught up on orders I'm going to focus on entering some more online contests and trying out for design teams. Wish me luck!

It's never too late for a Halloween page... heck, I haven't even done Halloween pages for my own girls yet.... but I might steal my own layout when I do get around to making them!

Featured Artist

I am proud to announce that I am the featured artist this week at Just Your Average Scrapbook. I submitted my work for consideration and they chose to feature them. I am hoping to enter more contests this year and focus on growing creatively.

Angelina

It's funny how things come to be! When I joined Facebook a few months ago I never imagined it would actually boost my business. I had visions of reconnecting with people from my younger days and that has happened. In addition, some of my old high school acquaintances have actually admired my work and have asked me to do some for them.

Angelina's mom worked closely with me and she had the advantage of sending me a photo of Angelina's room. It was very girly-girl Victorian. I knew right from the photograph which papers I was going to use. Turns out I was out of that paper (it is so gorgeous so you can tell I had just used it all up) so a trip to the scrap store was needed (darn, I just HATE going there LOL)

Party Time!

Today I was able to have a lot of fun. I was asked to do a craft for my neighbor's daughter's birthday party. I was surrounded by 8 year old girls.... and lived to tell about it! The girls were absolutely terrific. They were so sweet and polite and MOST IMPORTANTLY very creative. They had a blast putting together frames to take home. After that I stuck around to play beauty shop with them (the "inside out" French braid was the most popular choice). Now that Libby Lu is closed and Michaels doesn't offer birthday parties, parents are extremely limited as to how to provide an affordable and fun party for their kids. I have been doing parties for grown ups for a couple of years now but this was my first party for young kids and I think it went really well. Contact me for details if you are interested in having a party for your daughter with me, Miss Jeune Girl herself!
