Moving day has arrived here at the Jeune Girl Factory. All of my crafts and photographs are moving themselves over to a new and improved blog/site. This hybrid encompasses everything I need to run my "empire" (as I refer to it). Under one roof (or under one cute header) clients and fans can view my crafts and photographs. Photography clients will be able to view their session proofs and order prints. Craft clients can now order (and pay) through an online gallery as well.

Deluxe Monogram Frames

I had made a few of these frames a while ago and I was reminded of them when I saw them proudly displayed at my brother's house. My sister-in-law, Cheryl, had commissioned a set of 2 frames for her daughters. Too often I make my crafts for everyone else and don't make them for my own family (like the old story of the shoemaker's family having no shoes) so I decided to remedy that situation! The other day I was over in Poughkeepsie for a photo shoot and had some time after so I ran in to Michael's to get the necessary supplies and, viola! Frames were done! Contact me for ordering info!

Name Albums for Teens & Tweens

I've been getting more and more requests for name albums for teens. These are great gifts for them and, being 100% custom, can have designs that teens and tweens prefer. Teens would have the added dimension of being able to add the photos themselves and even incorporate their own journaling. They could even involve their friends in adding the custom touches. I love my client work dearly... in fact... when I'm not doing client work I go into panic mode, I think that I'll never work again. But I could relax knowing that my next set of name albums was on the way and I had some "down time" so I used it to finally put a dent in the pile of photographs I have. This is a fun page of a variety of images of my daughter, Catrina.

Yes, you heard me right. I had a small window of opportunity where I was able to do work just for ME!!! I have a stack of photographs of my girls that I haven't been able to touch but today I used what little time I had to create one layout of each of my girls. I used some of my favorite papers and I think they may just have to go onto my "Wall of Fame". I added some areas on the photos to show the detail of some of the areas on each page. I recently finished a FIFTY page custom order for a client so now that I'm done, I am open to taking on more orders. If you are interested in custom pages, please contact me.

Just a reminder to anyone who owns their own creative business.... you never know where you will meet your next client or make your next sale. The woman who ordered this album is someone I met at the DMV!!! I happened to be holding 2 name albums (to give to ANOTHER client I was meeting at the DMV. What? You don't meet your clients at the DMV? Well, maybe you should!) and the clerk at the DMV fell in love with them and ordered it on the spot! Definitely my most unique client!

New Layout for MYSELF

Using the Penny Lane collection from MME I was able to produce a new layout for my Creative Pandemonium design team. It's definitely a new favorite of mine and even made it onto the Wall of Fame in my office.

For all of my blog followers I must apologize for not being active lately. My photography business has become more popular than I ever would have imagined and has seriously put a dent in my scrappin' time. But I am still accepting custom orders (especially for name albums... they are as popular as ever!).

Recently, a client returned to me and asked me to RE-do wall letters I had made several years ago as GIANNA had her room remade (to welcome a little brother... his wall letters are a work in progress right now, mostly because unless his parents want to call him EVA instead of EVAN we are in a holding pattern). It was a great day when I got an email from a loyal client asking me to decorate a name album and incorporate the Yankees in it. The feeling must have been similar to when one person decided to combine the two great tastes of peanut butter and jelly... or even better, the two great tastes of peanut butter and CHOCOLATE! I really like the color combo this client gave me too.... I think it came together very nicely.

Lunch Boxes.... not just for Hauling Food

Lunch boxes remain near the top of projects I just love to do. These add a splash of color to any child's room. They can be used to hold hair clips, various "treasure", and vacation souvenirs (I can make a Disney themed one and you can put all your receipts and any 3D pins that may not fit anywhere else)

This one is for a little girl with a VERY talented mommy. Stephanie makes the most adorable dresses and little girl clothes. Her ETSY shop (here) inspired me in the colors I used on her daughter's lunch box.

Scrapbooking Tip #17: Hit Me with Your Best Shot

Ok, I admit, I have been terrible about doling out the scrapbooking tips. My last tip was in July of 2009. So I hope you haven't been waiting for #17 to come along!

"Hit me with your best shot" is not only a fun song to sing in the car, it's also a good philosophy when attempting to scrapbook in today's digital photography age. I average around 300 photos per month of my girls and I know I can't scrapbook every single photo so the key is to find the photos from every event that will make an family event a true memory.

My clients always bring out the best in me. One of my favorite people, Cindy, asked for an album for a little girl and that was it.... just said "it's for a little girl... I totally trust you". I delved deep into my "girl drawer" (yes, I have a girl drawer, and a boy drawer, and a cardstock drawer... ok 2 cardstock drawers.... and a Cosmo Cricket drawer... I could go on and on) and pulled out these wonderful papers by Pink Paislee.

I have been so lucky to be a designer for Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking for several months now and I find that I love spending time chatting in their forum (and of course, shopping for lots of goodies!). Every month they do a giveaway for the best layout and best card uploaded. The forum is small .... it feels like a family in there. With other message boards, you can post a question or statement and a few seconds later, it's bumped down a long list of messages, never to be seen again. So I'm always happy to share news and seek advice at the HSS forum. I'd encourage anyone who loves scrapbooking and chatting about it to join the forum there.

I loved the color scheme for this little guy. The colors reminded me of a Pottery Barn catalog. I know if I had to decorate a nursery for a little boy, this is the palate I would use. This client is new to me but came to me as a referral from one of my favorite fans so I was happy to take on this new venture. These are 10 of the 20 pages I made. There's nothing that keeps me warmer in the winter than a great scarf. I can't get enough of them. I think I have 4 that I wear on a regular basis and they're all fabulous. I even wear them in the house because my poor little neck just needs that extra coverage. This beauty was our gift to Brynne's bus driver.... I'm kicking myself for giving it away! A BIG THANK YOU to all of my wonderful clients (both new and returning) who made this year my best ever! I have been working up to the last minute to get all of my orders done and I'm happy to say that my last items for the holidays shipped this afternoon.

I must add, there is no greater feeling (ok, there are greater feelings but bear with me) than walking into the post office with 8 people in line and putting your boxes on the counter and simply saying "these are already paid for" and walking out. Priority Mail people! I also usually have the boxes picked up at my door but I wanted to get them out bright and early today.

My holiday gifts are quickly heading out to their destinations and, I must say, this has probably been my most successful year yet! Thanks to all of my regular clients and new clients who have joined me this year.

I can't say enough about the quality of these hand made hats by my friend, and fellow scrapper, Abbie. She has been featured on my blog from its earliest days as one of my main sources of inspiration. I don't know how she does it all... she's an amazing scrapbooker, photographer, and knitter.

That is the name I've dubbed the albums I've been working on for the last few days since my return from overseas. A returning client loved her SISTERS album so much that she wanted 3 more to give to her sisters and she wanted them all similar to the one she had. Luckily, the paper I used on the original came from a set with very similar papers. So they are not exactly the same (which hold true to my vow to make 100% unique designs) but I think they are close!

I was out of town this week with my husband enjoying a second (ok, third) honeymoon. We spent the week in Ireland.... a true dream come true for me. Now I am back and staring at a stack of name albums to be created as well as that 30 page order that I vow to finish this week. Not to even mention the digital photos and other photo "stuff" I have to do. I will be VERY busy for the next few weeks but loving every second of it!

Things got complicated this week as I'm trying to finish with my huge 30 page order. Our old desktop computer decided to go to the great beyond and it took all of my scrapbooking software with it (my computer engineer assures me we can get all the data back... just not yet!) so I scrambled to hook up my laptop to the printer and had to use a different program to make my journaling designs. I am about 2/3 of the way done with my order and hoping to get them done before I leave for vacation this Saturday.

Making a Sacrifice....

You know, that stash of paper that you will NEVER EVER EVER use because it's just too awesome (and then you come across it 2 years later and just doesn't have any appeal whatsoever)? So when my client wrote to me and said her house was decorated in blacks, apple green, muted yellow, and red I KNEW I had to use this paper.

I hope she loves it!

So I've Had to Get Creative...

Earlier this week I was busy working in my scrapbooking room when all of a sudden my desktop died.... yup... just decided it was time to be done. We've known for a while that it was old and should be replaced. We're hoping that the information on their is recoverable but luckily, the photos on there have been backed up. Meanwhile, the desktop was hooked up to my printer and had my scrapbooking software on it so I've had to get creative in order to continue to be productive on my 30 page order. Luckily, my client gave me a few pages with just titles and no journaling so I've been concentrating on those for now. I also have about 5 other pages started that need to have the journaling added when I can get things up and running again. For now, the Cricut is running quite a bit and I have been using more alphabet stickers than ever.

Layouts Galore!

I am up to my ears in LAYOUTS!! I have a wonderful client (all of my clients are wonderful!) who has chosen to use my services for a second time and now she wants 30 pages!!! I laugh because many of my crafty friends (who also work full time) would say "It would take me 30 months to make 30 pages". But having 3 hours a day that I can fully dedicate to crafts really helps me get my work done quickly.

This particular client really is in tune with my style so when I get my hands on her photos I feel like I'm making pages of my own kids. Here are the ones I've gotten done so far. With only 1 1/2 weeks until I leave for vacation and with the distraction of the Yankees in the World Series, I will have to work even faster to get the rest done before I leave.

What's Your Color Scheme Lately?

Do you find yourself liking different colors depending on the time of year or by what you see in stores & catalogs. I know that my tastes change throughout the year. Right now I am thoroughly enjoying some of the more bold colors. I have been in love with yellows and reds for a while now and I'm starting to add other colors to this mix. Luckily, I had a client recently who needed some boy pages made so this fit right into my favorite color schemes.

Another Great Gift Idea

Isn't this a cute mini-album? This is for the teacher of my friend's daughter who happens to love butterflies!! Handmade gifts are always so appreciated and are 100% unique! I even gave an extra piece of butterfly chipboard to my friend to have her daughter decorate it and add it to the album for a truly personalized touch. Of course, Jenn had to request PURPLE... the hardest color for me to find... but I managed!

A tropical vacation is the theme this week and with the weather in the northeast, I can definitely say I'd rather be on that vacation than scrapbooking about it. However, I do wish my client and her family a 'bon voyage' (hey, I'm miss Jeune Girl, I can break out into French if I want... though I am not French and do not speak much of the language).

Best wishes to the sister in law of my client. She is the reason for their trip as she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer at this time. I keep her in my thoughts and I hope that the trip brings the family some happy memories. My client also requested a layout specifically for her dear sister in law. I found these great words and kept the layouts very simple:

Butterfly Kisses

Two of my design team designs were due this week so I have been pretty busy doing work for myself (for once!). For the Creative Pandemonium team I was challenged to use 2 colors of solid cardstock along with 2 tags... after that I was on my own. When I put the basic elements together I knew that it wasn't a 'me' page so I had to add my own personal touches.

This summer, my friend, Katharine, gave birth to a gorgeous little girl so, naturally, she needed a name album to match her daughter's beauty. I hope I came close! She asked for pink and green BUT NOT SAGE GREEN! So I chose a bold apple green with a matching bright pink that I hope she loves.

To me, there is nothing more relaxing than having time during my day for scrapbooking. I was having a chat recently with some friends who commented how lucky I am to have a job that is also such a source of joy to me. "Work" is definitely not the right word for what I do!

This layout of Catrina is beyond minimalist. I really wanted the photos to shine so Bazzill's dotted cardstock was a no brainer and I'm psyched that the deep purple was a great fit. Purple can be such a challenge to use!

It's officially fall and you know what that means.... well, ok, maybe you don't know what that means.... It means craft show season is HERE. The other day I got out my big bin of craft goodies and found........ Hardly Anything!!!!!!!! EEEEK. I must have sold most of my goodies through the year (that's a good thing) but hadn't made things to replace them (that's a bad thing) so I will be spending the next week and a half being VERY crafty.

I've Been Busy

I have been super busy with some custom orders and they're finally finished. I took a risk and listed 20 custom pages on Ebay and had 2 clients take me up on the offer and both had their requests come in within a few days of each other which was "interesting". So I made 44 pages in less than a week (thank goodness for 5 day a week preschool. You'd be amazed how many pages you can make in 3 hours with no kids around).

Yes, 44 pages.... one client couldn't decide on just 20 pages LOL.

Being part of a design team definitely has its perks! Happy Scrappin Scrapbooking is unique in that the wonderful ladies there don't send a pre-set kit. Design team members shop for their own goodies in their super-stocked store (click HERE to see the selection). With so much to choose, it was really difficult! I concentrated on My Mind's Eye, one of my favorite companies.

My lovely Greek goddess of a neighbor, Marina (flattery goes a long way) requested these albums as a baby shower gift for a soon-t0-be mommy of two little Greek boys. These names are traditional Greek names but they get the same "name album treatment" here at Jeune Girl Headquarters. I am almost afraid to give out this link. One of my crafty friends has started her own website with online store and I'm so proud that she got it up and running. Now my best kept secret will be OUT! But I wish her the best of luck with the store and hope she does really well.

Shown above are my FAVORITE ITEMS. These are little dew drops that Suzanne hand makes. They make PERFECT centers for flowers and can be laid out in a pattern to make cool swirls. .... with Halloween mini-albums. Normally, I hoard my supplies for a few years and finally use the paper when it's really out of style. I didn't want to make that mistake with these great papers but I had more Halloween supplies than I would ever use for my own projects. So I decided to create mini-albums. When my first one had a "bidding war" on Ebay I figured I had hit on something that would be hot for this fall. So now I've created 2 more minis for your bidding pleasure!

The Color Purple

Here's the thing.... purple gets no love from the scrapbooking world. But I have to say that about 50% of my custom orders for girls asks for purple or lavender. I struggle to find just the right paper since manufacturers don't seem to make enough purple. When I was asked to make a purple and green lunch box I figured no problem.... I'll just hit up the stash... only to come up empty! A very smart scrapper told me to make my own purple paper digitally and I'm glad I reached out and asked. Such a simple solution! (I won't go into detail on how long it took me to finally print this out with my bipolar printer!)

I just ordered over 400 photos from Snapfish today and I wonder if I'm crazy enough to attempt to scrap them (along with the other 100 or so I have waiting for me) so today I fiddled with some photos that eventually would have been added to the pile. Using my trusty Photoshop Elements, I combined 2 photos into one so when my next Snapfish order goes in, maybe it will only be 200 photos!!!!

Littlest Jeune Girls

I always knew my girls were artistic but lately, they've just taken it to a new level. Yesterday, Brynne (my 6 year old), acting completely on her own, came up with 2 fabulous projects. One was a box that was decorated with her photo (ok, so she totally stole a photo that I was planning on using on a scrap page) and the other is a clear plastic box that she cut and decorated AND added handles all on her own. With Brynne, projects are usually 3 dimensional and very complicated.

Catrina did her own art yesterday (not shown). She took stencils and traced them onto paper with an accuracy I know I couldn't duplicate. She's pretty advanced for 4!

Both girls are wearing the shirts they tie-dyed at a birthday party last week. Love their eye for color!

As reported earlier, I have the privilege of being this month's guest designer at Your Scrapbook Stash. I was sent an awesome (and FREE!! yay!!) kit featuring Cosmo Cricket.... one of my favorite manufacturers! The paper is so sweet and girly and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I was given free reign on what I would design and I decided that my first item would be an altered lunch box.

It's interesting, most of the ideas for my crafts come directly from my clients. I had a local mom ask me to make a custom frame for an 8x10 photo. I had always done my deluxe frames for 4x6 photos so I didn't even know if an 8x10 frame was available. After a quick trip to my local craft store, I discovered that they do have 8x10 frames and they're very easy to work with!

So now I'm putting the word out.... 8x10 frames are now available! Contact me for ordering info!

I'm BACK from vacation... that's the good news! The bad news is that I have completely filled up my hard drive on my laptop and was only able to upload about half of my vacation photos and cannot edit ANY of them until I clear up some room. So I am going to be getting a 1 tb hard drive sometime soon. I don't know what I'm going to do without new photos to show everyone of the crafts I'm creating!

Speaking of crafts! My ebay auctions are heating up (I have one with a bid and NINE watchers!!! That's crazy!) and I am moving on to round 3 of the treasured scrapbooking online contest which is really exciting. The latest challenge is going to be SO TOUGH!!! Lastly, I was greeted at home today with a box of goodies from Your Scrapbook Stash! I am their guest designer this month so now I have some great Cosmo Cricket items to work with!

A Hot Mess!

.... yeah, that's a good phrase to describe my scrap space yesterday afternoon. I had some quality time to work yesterday and I didn't waste a second. You'll see that I was working on Halloween since my Ebay listings will be up TOMORROW. I knew I had to make a cute little mini-album.

I think most scrappers would agree that a messy scrap space is a GOOD THING... it's a sign that creativity is taking place. I'm just glad that I have a dedicated space in my house to do my work so all I have to do is close the door and the mess is forgotten. The OCD eventually kicked in and I did straighten it up but it was fun while it lasted!

Getting Crafty in My Spare Time

So I'm involved in another contest which is pushing me to be as creative as I can be. This time, it's for Treasured Scrapbooking. I've already made it to the second round and I'm excited to share the projects I've made so far.

Here is this week's entry. I actually used the photos from my Christmas card since the rules stated that I needed to use at least 3 photos in the layout and my printer is on the fritz (needs ink) and I was in a time crunch. Luckily, I have more than one extra of these little babies sitting around (photos are from my shoot with Melissa Surprise from last year... so cute)

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Well, if you're a scrapbooker, the holiday season begins EARLY! Last year, I waited too long to premake items for Ebay and I ended up missing out on much of the selling since I was making custom Christmas gifts. This year, I am getting a head start so I don't miss out. I'm hoping to avoid being getting too overwhelmed in the next few months.

Halloween in August?

Yes, that's right! Starting August 15th I will be listing HALLOWEEN& other FALL related items on Ebay in conjunction with a group challenge that I am participating in. My Ebay design group, QITM is eager to get a jump on the fall selling craze. September 1st is the real start of our busiest time of year and we can't wait to get busy being crafty!
